Description

This rule determine page title length and its recommended length between 50 and 60 chars.

Purpose

When your page title is too long, search engines (Google, Bing, etc.) will shorten or rewrite it to fit within its results, often by showing ellipses at the end. Moreover, the page title length varies and depends on the viewport size. However, it is important that you include all of the crucial words prior to the cutoff, therefore we recommend 50-60 characters. If your visitors mostly come from the mobile, you can typically use longer, but not shorter, titles than this before search engines start rewriting.

Example

How to fix it

  • When possible try to keep the page title between 50 and 60 characters. Otherwise, it might be cut.
